Charity Projects

In addition to occaisional special contributions of time and talent to a variety of non-profit organizations, Main Line Quilters is dedicated to serving the community through our charity projects we call “Pieces of Love” (POL)

Three organizations compose the core of our charity work:

The Baby Bureau
Services to needy first-time mothers.

Our guild donates handmade knitted/crocheted blankets and quilts along with baby clothing (new and/or gently used), diapers, toys, and more. The organization then uses the quilts and blankets to create bundles filled with the baby clothing as well as donated infant board-books, diapers, etc. The bundles are distributed through social service agencies to needy first-time mothers.

The Pieces of Love Team is happy to accept donations anytime. If you have BOY blocks, quilt tops or other incomplete items, bring them to a meeting and we’ll organize getting them finished.

  • 40-42” X 40-54” quilts in cotton or flannel
  • Crocheted blankets at least 36” square
  • Receiving blankets in flannel or fleece finishing at least 30” square
  • Bibs in fun fabrics or colors for boys and/or girls
  • No need to wash quilts as the Baby Bureau washes everything.

Please note that with the closing of Crozer Chester Hospital, we will be redirecting our baby quilt donations to The Baby Bureau

Crozer Chester Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Care of infants born prematurely or under duress.

Our guild creates 36″ square quilts that cover the Isolettes and serve to protect the infants from light in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. When the infants go home with their families, the quilts go with them.

  • 36” X 36” in cotton or flannel
  • Baby-friendly fabrics
  • No need to wash quilts as they have to be washed in a prescribed manner.

Community Volunteers in Medicine
CVIM is a clinic for the uninsured working poor.

CVIM staff make us aware of their community needs. Our guild responds by donating larger quilts for use by children and adults. In addition, members donate hats, gloves, clothing, personal care needs and more.

  • Quilt sizes: 45”-60” X 45”- 60” (ex: Can be 45” X 45”, or 45” X 60”, or 50” X 55” etc…)
  • Any pattern or color suitable for adults or children
  • Washing optional
