Historic Cold Spring Village would like to invite you and your guild to participate in the Cape May Quilt and Fiber Show to be held on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24h at the Museum Village. The weekend’s events include a Viewer’s Choice Quilt Show, sheep shearing, vintage quilt displays, spinning, wool dying, lace making, and a celebration of all the fibers used in the early 19th century. To encourage the public appreciation and participation in heritage crafts, the event has expanded in scope to reflect many fiber arts: embroidery, basket making, broom making, crocheting, felting, knitting and other fiber artisans all gathering and exchanging ideas and techniques.

The core of the event will be the 22nd Annual Quilt Show displayed in the Welcome Center. The quilt show is judged by ‘Viewer’s Choice’. It is casual show, a great way share your talent with others.

The 2012 Best in Show prize is $250.00 in Country Store Gift Certificates. Additional ribbons and prizes are awarded in individual categories. Registration forms are downloadable from our website:http://www.hcsv.org/

Lancaster Pennsylvania, 1.18.12: For the very first time since
this collection made its public debut in 1990 at the Fine Arts
Museum of San Francisco, visitors will experience ALL 82
historic masterworks of American quilt making selected from
the world renowned Esprit Collection of Amish quilts. These
superb works, acknowledged masterpieces of design and
needlework, were made between 1870 and 1950 by the
Amish women in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

The exhibition will be presented in the Beaux-Arts inspired LANCASTER QUILT & TEXTILE MUSEUM, 37 North Market Street Lancaster PA, for one week only—March 13-18, 2012.

A message from Betty:

Wow! I have bought tickets and entered my name into quilt raffles since 1985. This is the first time I have ever won. And what a quilt to win!
“Spring Around the Blocks” is so stunningly beautiful made with such love and craftsmanship. Kudos to all of the Main Line Quilters who worked on this quilt and sold raffle tickets. I hope it brought in a lot of money for the Community Volunteers in Medicine.
The quilt will be loving displayed at Pieceful Cottage our bay house, in Wenona MD. I use this home to offer quilt retreat weekends, and to rent out to small quilt groups who want to plan their own retreats. So you can come and visit with your quilt anytime!
Thanks again to all the Main Line Quilters for their hard work and for so generously accepting me into your wonderful circle of quilters.

Betty

Ticket sales benefited Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), a community-based, volunteer nonprofit organization providing primary medical and dental care to low income, working people in Chester County without insurance, enabling them to continue to be contributing members of the community.

The final twin-sized “BOY” quilt that was assembled and bordered by Debbie Peyton, quilted by Ann Randolph and bound by Marty Laney was delivered by Ann Randolph, Rosemary Lynch and Shirley Peterson to the Donor Appreciation Night of Veterans Sanctuary in Allentown on November 4. This facility is a retreat to provide therapy, counseling and job procurement for men and women veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and addictions linked to PTSD. The facility will open in January 2011 with a 30 bed capacity to be increased to 60 beds at a later date. The goal is to provide a handmade quilt for each of the 30 beds by the opening date. The quilt donations can be made individually or through a Quilt Guild. Contact Wendy Tracy at wentracy@PTD.net if you have a quilt to donate. The quilt must be a full twin bed size (63” X 87” – 65” X 95”).
